Movie Diagram: Babette's Feast

In considering how I wanted to diagram Babette's Feast, I thought of some key characteristics of the film: it is simple, it has a circular plot line that works itself out by the end, and it has some incredibly symbolic moments. With all of that in mind, I felt a straight forward, circular, diagram with simple pictures that were not too difficult to interpret was the way to go. This is what I ended up with: A Bible to reflect their constant focus on their faith, and scripture itself, the delta symbol (triangle) to illustrate the change in their life when Babette joins them, two arrows pointing towards each other reflecting how in giving Babette a place to stay, she gives back to them by throwing a feast for them--which is reflected in the next three symbols, illustrating this beautiful gift of communion, ending with an abstract version of the "paradise", Heaven, that they always circle back to. Finally, the quote in the center was reiterated twice in the film and I felt it fit well with the overarching theme and purpose of the movie: to remind us that there is more--in us, around us, for us.
